Spotify Free users will be able to hear their favorite music on even more smart speakers, including from Amazon, Sonos, and Bose. That’s right—free users in Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. Will, for the first time, be able to ask Alexa to play Today’s Top Hits, their Discover Weekly, or a custom-made playlist on their Amazon Echo or Fire TV. Echo Spotify Commands List for Navigation
Whether playing albums, songs, playlists, or genres, you can control playback with the following Echo Spotify commands.
1a. Echo, mute. Sets speaker volume to zero, but playback progress continues.
1b. Echo unmute. Sets speaker volume back to what it was prior to the last mute command issued.
1c. Echo, pause. Stops playback.
1d. Echo, resume. Picks up playback again from where you left off when you issued the last pause command.
1e. Echo, play Spotify. Starts Spotify again from where you listened the last time you played Spotify content.
1f. Echo, stop. Stops Spotify playback.
1g. You can skip around in the album by saying, Echo Previous, and Echo Next.
But as of this writing, asking for track numbers on the album does not yet work.
Echo Spotify Commands List for How to Play a Certain Song by a Certain Artist
Further, do you have a favorite song by a specific artist? Then ask Echo to play that song from Spotify as in the following examples. The requests below make Echo play the song Fly Like an Eagle, from Spotify, by the Steve Miller Band.
Caution
You may leave out the artist name if no other song title, artist name, or playlist has the same name. However, you must add the artist qualifier if there are more than one items in Spotify with the same name. Otherwise, Echo may play the wrong song for you. In the Fly Like an Eagle case though, she does play the Steve Miller version. That’s true, even though Spotify has versions from other artists such as Seal.

Further, you can request a certain album by a certain artist from Spotify, shown in the examples next. The album then plays in the correct order. In other words, it plays from start to end, without any inter-song gaps. We like this when playing albums that have one long recording, divided into tracks. Why? Because the tracks allow easier navigation on some live and studio albums like Pink Floyd’s The Wall album.

Got a favorite artist or group? Ask Echo to play all the songs by that artist that Spotify offers, as in the following examples. Here, the following requests all result in Echo playing the songs in Spotify by the Steve Miller Band.
Caution
Now the name of the artist you want may also be a song title. E.g. The group name Middle of the Road for example, is also the title of a song by the Pretenders. Here, Echo may play the wrong song when you ask for this. So, to get rid of this confusion, add the “songs by” phrase to the above request. The next example illustrates.

Step 1 Connect sound device like Amazon Echo to Amazon Alexa app.
Please download Alexa app from Apple Store or Google Play then register it and connect it to speaker.

Run Alexa app on your phone or tablet if you have installed, then tap Setting button from the left panel, then tap Music & Media on the right.

A new screen 'Connect Alexa to your Spotify Account' will show next as displayed below. Click the green button 'Log in to Spotify' and enter your user name and password of Spotify account. If you have no Spotify account, you can use your Gmail or Facebook to sign up here directly.
Finally, a window will show up displaying 'Your Spotify account has been linked successfully'. Now, you have successfully linked Spotify account to Alexa.
Step 3 Choose Spotify as the Default Music Service
Back to the Music & Media section of the Alexa, and you will see that your Spotify account is linked. Then select Spotify as the default music service.
Step 4 Start Play Spotify Music on Alexa
Now, you can ask Alexa to play specific artists, songs, genres of music, albums or playlists on Spotify. Because you set Spotify as the default music source, it will play music automatically only from Spotify, You can also ask Alexa to raise or lower the volume, skip to the next, repeat songs and get information about the song being played with Alexa music commands.
